Terms & Conditions


I. General Terms of Use:

a. Acknowledgements

Assumptions are made that students attending class meet the prerequisite skills required for the type of class or level attending. Both the student(s) attending and the undersigned acknowledge that the student(s) enrolling in class have reviewed and meet the prerequisites as set forth in the course syllabus (please contact your account executive for Syllabus.)

Certification for Microsoft, Adobe or other vendor products requires the student to pass certain certification exams administered by Vue, Thompson Prometric Testing Centers or 3rd party testing companies. Exam fees range from $60 to $555 and up, and, unless specified herein, are not included with class tuition. If student does purchase testing voucher it is good for 90 days after the last day of class.

b. Attendance/ Cancellation Policy for Traditional Instructor-Led Training Classes at New Horizons Southern Arizona

To avoid being charged a fee, classes must be canceled 5 business days or more before the class date. Students canceling less than 5 business days or up to 48 hours prior to class will be charged 50% of the class tuition. Anyone canceling less than 48 hours before the class will be billed for the full tuition. If books and/or other materials have been ordered and cannot be returned, student/company will be billed the cost for these items in addition to any cancellation fee. Please call us at 520-290-5600 and speak to someone directly. Any message left or emails sent unanswered are not valid for cancellation.

c. Payment Terms

Class(es) are to be paid the day of or before class attendance. Any class unpaid after the last day of class will be considered past due and charged a 1.5% interest fee. Each 30 day period after the last day of class this fee will be added until payment is made in full. The penalty fee will be applied to total amount of class, not current amount due. If you reschedule or change class dates, payment is still due the day of your original class date.

If tuition is paid by a credit card and the student cancels his/her class, a 3.0% credit card processing fee will be retained. If paid with an American Express or Discover card, a 3.5% credit card processing fee will be retained. If cancellation is due to New Horizons cancelling or rescheduling the aforementioned class and the student requests a refund, no credit card processing fees will be retained.

d. Online Class Purchase

If class was purchased online through our New Horizons e revenue site, there are no refunds for these classes. The class dollar amount can be used for a credit to other classes, minus any fees associated with cancelling or non-attendance of class.

e. Class Times

Unless otherwise noted Application class starts 9:00 AM Arizona Time and runs until 5:00 PM Arizona time and Technical classes start at 8:30 AM Arizona Time and run until 4:30 PM Arizona Time, boot camps and OLL classes excluded. Students should be to new Horizons at least 15 minutes early for check in. Any student more than 15 minutes late will not be allowed into class until after first morning break, and in some cases, not allowed to attend if late. Non-attendance because of tardiness is not considered cancelled and payment is still due to New Horizons. Student has 6 months to make class again at no charge or monies spent can be rolled into other classes or used for other employees.

f. Repeat Policy

Any student can repeat the class in this enrollment agreement within 6 months of the completion of cancellation of above class. Any additional fees such as Curriculum, labs, workbooks, etc. will need to be paid to New Horizons before attending class, unless otherwise noted below.

If the class is not held within 6 months New Horizons may grant additional time, but student needs to check and get approval with New Horizons before 6 month term ends.

II. Online Live Classes

New Horizons of Southern Arizona contracts with many other New Horizons throughout the USA to offer classes with a live virtual feed to students. With online classes, start and end times could be different that times defined in (Ie). If you are taking an Online Live class please ask your Account Executive or our Front Desk Personnel what time your class starts and ends.

If you are taking an OLL class, this class can be taken at our center in Tucson, at your place of business or your home. If taken at our facility, we will provide all equipment necessary for the class to function. If you are taking the class form somewhere else than a New Horizons facility it is your responsibility to insure that the systems will accommodate the needs of our OLL requirements. Those requirements can be viewed here.

OLL Technical requirements

If you are taking an NHOLL class you MUST attend the class within 1/2 hour of the start time, log in the class and launch the class, not doing so may prohibit you from attending that class that week. We strongly recommend attending your first day of any NHOLL class at our facility. NH has strict rules for attendance on NHOLL classes, if you have any questions please contact us BEFORE your class starts.

Cancellations of most Microsoft and CompTIA classes must be made 5 days before class to receive any refund or change the date of enrollment, many other higher level classes and some Microsoft and CompTIA classes do require a 10 day cancellation, please check with your Account Executive for those classes.

III. New Horizons contracted 3rd party classes.

For a 3rd party Vendor taught class, all classes must be canceled 10 business days or more before the class date. Students canceling less than 10 business days will be charged 100% of the class tuition.

If tuition is paid by a credit card and the student cancels his/her class, a 3.0% credit card processing fee will be retained. If paid with an American Express or Discover card, a 3.5% credit card processing fee will be retained. If cancellation is due to New Horizons cancelling or rescheduling the aforementioned class and the student requests a refund, no credit card processing fees will be

Any repeat privileges for classes that New Horizons has contracted with a 3rd party for will be what the 3rd party vendor has for their repeat privileges. Please ask for these before class.

IV. Program Inclusions:

At New Horizons some of our classes come with "extras" that normal classes do not have. Some of these are listed below, not every class we offer has all or some of the inclusions. Your Account Executive would have sated these are part of your program on the enrollment Agreement.

  1. 6 months access to supporting “e-learning” resources to help support, validate and reinforce concepts learned in class.
  2. 6 months access to an Online Measure UP practice exam resource.
  3. Ability to repeat class for a minimum of 6 months either through another live class or using our Mentored Learning classroom facility. Students must use the course materials distributed to them in their original course. Failure to provide these materials will result in the student being charged for replacement materials. If vendor changes versions, students will be required to pay for new book if needed.
  4. Test Pass Assurance: Ask your Account Executive

V. Testing

Exam Voucher Acknowledgement (If an Exam Voucher is included): Information Technology certification exams (with some exceptions - Red Hat, (ISC)2, etc.) are generally provided by PEARSON VUE and PROMETRIC and other 3rd party testing compnaies. New Horizons maintains both testing centers at its facility in Tucson via public scheduling, and at its facility in Sierra Vista via private event testing (must register with New Horizons).

Candidates scheduling exams at New Horizons are required to contact our Exam Coordinator at 520-290-5600 to schedule via New Horizons' public/ private schedule. Should a candidate desire to register at a non-New Horizons testing center other than Tucson or Sierra Vista, please contact our registrar for your voucher number. Candidates requiring rescheduling or cancellation of a scheduled exam are required to contact the appropriate testing agency (either Vue or Prometric) at their respective websites Pearson VUE: FAQs or Prometric: FAQs. For most vendor exams, candidates must contact the appropriate testing agency at least 48 hours prior to the candidate's scheduled exam date, please do not contact us, contact the exam provider. In some cases, candidates may contact the testing agency via telephone if cancellation or rescheduling occurs less than 48 hour but greater than 24 hours. Failure to abide by these cancellation and rescheduling terms with either testing agency will result in forfeiture of the candidate's exam fee or voucher.

VI. The Project Management Professional (PMP®) Credential (for those considering certification)

Individuals who hold PMI's PMP credential demonstrate a proficient level of project management leadership skills, and as a result are able to command salaries that exceed those of their non-credentialed counterparts.

To be eligible for a PMP credential, you must meet specific guidelines that objectively measure experience, education and professional knowledge. You also must agree to adhere to the PMI Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and pass a rigorous multiple-choice examination that assesses your abilities in project management.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must have 35 hours of specific project management education.
  • With a Bachelor’s Degree (or the global equivalent): Applicants must have a minimum three years’ professional project management experience, during which 4,500 hours are spent leading and directing project tasks, up to eight years from the time of application.
  • Without a Bachelor’s Degree (or the global equivalent): Applicants must have a minimum five years’ professional project management experience, during which at least 7,500 hours are spent leading and directing project tasks, up to eight years from the time of application.

The PMP Credential Examination

This four-hour examination composed of 200 multiple-choice questions measures your ability to apply knowledge, skills and techniques used in project management. The examination is developed by groups of individuals from around the globe who hold the PMP credential and is routinely reviewed and revised to ensure the best and consistently objective assessment.

Steps to Obtaining a PMP Credential:

  1. Complete an online application (available at www.pmi.org) or download an application and submit via mail (faxes not accepted).
  2. If you meet the eligibility requirements, you will receive an e-mail explaining how to schedule the exam.
  3. Individuals who attain a credential from PMI will be added to PMI's Online Credential Registry and may immediately use the credential designation after their name.

The Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) Credential

Designed specifically for project team members, the CAPM credential is aimed at improving overall project success by helping to ensure project management knowledge. To become a CAPM credential holder, you must meet specific guidelines designed to objectively measure experience, education and professional knowledge. You must pass an examination that assesses your knowledge of A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), and you must agree to adhere to the PMI Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.

Eligibility

Applicants must have:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or the global equivalent
  • 1,500 hours of work on a project team or 23 contact hours of project management education

The CAPM Credential Examination

Applicants must pass a three-hour, 150-question, knowledge-based examination that uses the PMBOK® Guide as its only source. The questions are developed by individuals from around the globe who hold the CAPM credential and are monitored to ensure that the examination continues to be a reliable and valid assessment of project management terms and practices. Steps to Obtaining a CAPM Credential:

  1. Complete an online application or download an application and submit via mail (faxes not accepted).
  2. If you meet the eligibility requirements, you will receive an e-mail explaining how to schedule the exam.
  3. Individuals who attain a credential from PMI will be added to PMI's Online Credential Registry and may immediately use the credential designation after their name.

If you do not pass the examination on the first attempt and would like to take it again, you must submit a re-examination form within your one-year eligibility period and remit payment of the re-examination fee. PMP credential holders can download the re-examination form. Candidates are permitted two re-examinations per one-year eligibility period. Candidates that do not pass the examination on the third attempt must wait one year from the date of their last examination and then start a new credential application. The form can be returned via fax or mail to the PMI Global Operations Center or the appropriate Regional Service Centre.

All participants pursuing the PMP or CAPM credentials are strongly advised review detailed requirements and resources available at www.pmi.org.

Once a candidate has completed the application required by PMI and related fees have been provided, the candidate has 12 months from that date to complete the related exam. Candidates who fail to complete the PMP exam by said date will forfeit his/her exam fee per the Project Management Institute.

VII. Agreement:

By signing and initialing the Enrolment Agreement my New Horizons of Southern Arizona Account Executive has sent to me, I agree that I have read and understand New Horizons' Training agreement as stated above. I agree to make payment in full for aforementioned services upon receipt of the invoice from New Horizons Computer Learning Center.
